If you have been reading the news page, you may have noticed we have obtained some new official Barcode Battler related hardware.

The unit in question is a "Barcode Battler II C0", and it has (wait for it) no barcode reading hardware. At all. Instead, it connects to a Barcode Battler II (or any non-Japanese Barcode Battler ) using the supplied cable, and uses it to obtain barcode data. It can also daisy-chain to a second identical unit for extra gameplay options (which as far as we can tell have been called C3 and C4).

This is no April fool, (it's July), and believe it or not, there are adverts in the box for:
"Barcode Battler II C2" (¥4980)
"Super Mario World" cards (¥970)
"Legend of Zelda" cards (¥970)
"Dragon Slayer" cards (¥970)
+ six other branded decks that we don't recognise yet each for ¥970
"Barcode Battler II Interface" for the SFC / SNES (¥2300)
+ a "12Mbit RPG" game for the SFC for ¥9800

This "new" machine takes 4 AA batteries.

Expect a full write-up very soon!

The C0 links with the Barcode Battler to obtain barcode data.

The modes on the C0 are:
C-0: Two player game, possibly with different rules to the Barcode Battler C-0 mode.
C-C: One player game against the machine, probably with different rules to the Barcode Battler C-2 mode.
C-3: Four player game with 2 teams of 2 players. Requires two C0 machines.
C-4: Four player game, each player working alone! Requires two C0 machines.

Truely brilliant stuff, if only I can find a second machine Sad

I've just secured a second of these. I'll soon be able to operate all 4 modes.

After a month of waiting, the second one has arrived Smiley

And it's a Bank Holiday weekend, so I should have some time to test it and take some pictures.

I had a look at the advertisement flyer (assuming it's this one).

With the 3 previously-listed entries for sale being:
"Super Mario World" cards (¥970)
"Legend of Zelda" cards (¥970)
"Dragon Slayer" cards (¥970)
(and of course "Barcode Battler II C2" (¥4980) from here)

I think the other 6 listed entries are the following:

In Japanese characters:
1)バーコードファイター: バーコード皇帝からの挑戦状 (¥970)
2)コンビニウオーズ外伝:「魔封の覇者」全3巻 (¥780)
3)コンビニウオーズ正伝1:「時空を超えた戦士達」(¥1380)
4)コンビニウオーズ正伝2:「超合体伝説」(¥970)

5)
BB圧専
ホワイ卜
カード
21枚
(¥300)

6)
名刺カード
30枚
バトル卜ライアル
対戦用
カード
(¥300)

In the English alphabet:
1)Barcode Fighter: Barcode Koutei Karano Chousenjou (¥970)
2)Conveni Wars Gaiden: "Ma Fuu no Hasha" zen 3 kan (¥780)
3)Conveni Wars Seiden 1: "Jikuu wo Koe ta Senshitachi" (¥1380)
4)Conveni Wars Seiden 2: "Chou Gattai Densetsu" (¥970)

5)
BB Atsusen
Howai Boku
Card
21 Mai
(¥300)

6)
Meishi Card
30 Mai
Battle Boku Raiaru
Taisen You
Card
(¥300)

Rough English translation:
1)Barcode Fighter: Challenge of the Barcode Emperor (¥970)
2)Conveni Wars Gaiden: "Magic Seal Champions" all three volumes (¥780)
3)Conveni Wars Story 1: "Warriors from Beyond Space and Time" (¥1380)
4)Conveni Wars Story 2: "Super-Union Legend" (¥970)
5&6) I have no real idea what these are. That's the reason I threw up most of the full ad earlier. If anyone can figure these last two out then that would be cool.

(NOTE: Gaiden means "side story," but since it's so common in even English titles of Japanese games like Ninja Gaiden, I've left it as "gaiden" here)

PS - I didn't include the furigana, but it's almost impossible to read and anyway it's just tips on pronunciation.
...I hope the ubb can handle kanji and katakana

Thanks.

I have to add a correction to the above entry.

EDIT: I just deleted the contents of this post and added the corrections to the original post to cut down the confusion of having a million different Japanese characters everywhere. The correction was just a single Japanese character and a few tweaks of the Rough English translation. I also added a note about Seiden and Gaiden.

Seiden means "story of"
Gaiden means "side-story"

I left the word Gaiden in the English translation, though, since most English-speaking gamers are familiar with the term anyway through games like Ninja Gaiden.

Thanks again. Also I just noticed that I could edit my posts, so I'll go ahead and make corrections to the original post I made. The Zelda board I'm a member of has a really obnoxious policy barring edits of your own posts after something like 5 to 10 minutes. It's really annoying. This board is much nicer in that respect.
